SHELBY JONES

A native to San Antonio, Shelby has been involved in sports and fitness for most of his life. From sales at your globo gym to personal training, Shelby was introduced to CrossFit in 2008 and was hooked from WOD 1. After CrossFitting for 2 years Shelby started training out of his garage for a year until he could afford rent in a storefront location. From there its been a snow ball effect trying to bring CrossFit to the community. Always looking to better himself and everyone around him, he is constantly looking for ways to improve through classes or courses or getting hands on. Shelby has held certifications from The Cooper Institute, A.C.E., A.F.A.A., and is continuing his education with O.P.T. currently being an on journey CCP. He is always looking for higher learning in his field to provide better value and service to all of the members at Jones N4 CrossFit.

ALEXANDER HOLGUIN

Ambitious, courageous, and always humble, Alex Holguin has surrounded himself with competition and athletic sports training his entire life. West Texas born, Alex grew up in El Paso, where he found his first love of basketball. He was a varsity athlete in a very competitive 5-A district, where his career was cut short in the regional semi-finals in the UIL State Texas playoffs. To find greener pastures, Alex moved to San Antonio shortly after his high school graduation and began to pursue his athletic ambitions. Alex began working out, lifting heavy with less focus on mobility and functional movements in a “Globo Gym” style of training. Then in mid 2012, Alex was introduced to CrossFit and was instantly invigorated. His new passion led him to start his own apprenticeship to be the best CrossFit coach the city has to offer. With a passion for learning, Alex is now a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer and a USA Weightlifting Level 1 Sport Performance Coach. He is currently pursuing his Bachelors in kinesiology andssports Medicine from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Alex takes great pride in helping his athletes reach a higher level of functional fitness through hard work and determination, and while doing so, improving ones self worth! KELLY CASTELLANO

Kelly is a native of Austin. She has been active her entire life. She grew up in the dance studio since the age of 4, she also played various sports. She received her BBA from the University of Texas at Austin, where she was Head Choreographer of the UT Dance Team for 2 years. Kelly has worked in the fitness industry for over 10 years. She holds several certifications as group fitness instructor and is also a dance teacher. She first tried CrossFit in 2012 and became a CrossFit Level 1 certified coach in August 2013 and received her CrossFit Level 2 certification in February 2015. CrossFit has changed her outlook on fitness and exercise. With the competition and community atmosphere, there is nothing more exciting or motivating. She is excited about learning, growing and sharing her passion with the JN4CF family. Kelly has 2 kids, Ava and AJ, who enjoy the KidFit program at JN4.

AUDREY HERNANDEZ

Born and raised in a small town in South Texas, Audrey Hernandez has showed determination, strength, and ability to conquer any goal she gives herself. At the early age of 12, she began training as a top tennis player in the United States Tennis Association. During her high school years, Audrey placed 3rd in the state tournament for two consecutive years. This accomplishment was met with a full scholarship to attend and play for Lee College in Baytown, Texas. While at Lee College, she earned a national championship title for her win in the individual and team tennis championship. After her two years with Lee College, Audrey transferred, again with a full scholarship, to the University of the Incarnate Word at San Antonio. At UIW, Audrey earned a conference championship and was nominated by her peers as their team captain. In 2011, Audrey graduated from UIW with a bachelor’s in Psychology. Currently, Audrey Hernandez is working as a clinical practitioner and has also obtained her CrossFit Level 1 Certification. She is also working towards obtaining a Master’s degree in Counseling. CrossFit has motivated her to become a better athlete, coach, and mentor to fellow athletes as they pursue and conquer their fitness goals.

JOSHUA LOPEZ

From a small town in Texas called Natalia, Josh Lopez has always loved being outdoors. In high school Josh competed at the Varsity level in football, powerlifting, and golf. After high school Josh’s weight ballooned to 280 lbs. One day his friend challenged him to run the Rock n’ Roll half marathon and in the process of training he lost a 100 lbs. Shortly after he joined the Army and became a sergeant in the infantry. Due to the various physical challenges the infantry faces, Josh noticed the need to be well rounded as an athlete. Josh was first introduced to CrossFit by fellow coach Chris Brown and was hooked from then on. Since then he has become an intern for the box and is now a coach. Not only does Josh love making new PR’s he also loves seeing the athletes make new PRs! Bachelor of Kinesiology Specialization in Exercise Science from the University of Texas at San Antonio 2nd Lt U.S. Army.

BRYSON MILLER

Bryson is a native of Fredericksburg. He played football throughout high school and after his senior year, he had to have 2 surgeries within a year. He gained 20 pounds per surgery. He was tired of the weight gain and decided to change it. He started doing Insanity and lifting at globo gym and lost 20 pounds. He wanted more of a challenge and, in 2013, he was invited to a trainer’s only CrossFit class. He completed Helen RX in 21 minutes and he was hooked! He started competing in as  many competitions as he could. He got his CrossFit Level 1 certification in April of 2014 and began coaching a few months later. Bryson met Shelby and Kelly at the CrossFit Level 2 certification in February 2015 and a couple months later moved to San Antonio to better himself as a coach and athlete and the rest is history.

NATE TENNISON

In north San Antonio, born and raised, in the skate parks is where I spent most of my days! Nate has always enjoyed being outside and being active. He grew up skateboarding and got into bodybuilding as a sophomore with his dad. Getting up and going to the gym every morning became an immediate addiction! After graduating high school, Nate decided he wanted to help others feel the same way he felt about health and fitness. So, he became certified for personal training through NASM and began personal training, which has been the most fulfilling job he could ask for. Nate got into CrossFit after trying a class at JN4 in 2014 and instantly became hooked to the pain and joy of CrossFit and the atmosphere of JN4. The coaches were surprisingly humble, extremely helpful, and incredibly welcoming. Next step was getting his CrossFit Level 1 cert. He was lucky enough to become a part of the team and now loves every day of work coaching classes, training clients and members, and changing lives!

COREY BIGELOW

Corey is our barbell coach. As a former Marine, he had 2 combat deployments to Afghanistan and is also the recipient of a Purple Heart. Corey has been coaching weightlifting since 2013. He has lifters who have qualified for national level events.

Corey has his CrossFit Level 1 certification and is a USA Weightlifting club coach. He also volunteers as a coach for Kinetic Kids, a program for children with disabilities. Corey is currently a full time student pursuing his degree in Sports Medicine.

LISA VASQUEZ

Lisa grew up in Pharr, TX. She has always been active. Her freshman year of high school, she made the varsity track team, who won the district championship that year. She also was a cheerleader. Lisa is the loving mother of her son, JD.

In 2010, she decided to try Zumba, began working out at Anytime Fitness and competing in 5k runs (she always won!). She began instructing cardio kickboxing classes and assisting with a girls’ boot camp. While in college, someone in her class asked if she had every tried CrossFit. She tried it and fell in love! She loved the competitive atmosphere. She has always been passionate about motivating and encouraging people.She has been a personal trainer since 2013 and is going back to school to complete her degree in kinesiology to become an elementary school coach.
